It's a dog's life .. with Let's Get Sketchy

Heh peeps!

I don't know about you but I love a good sketch challenge. Depending on my mood I could follow the sketch almost to a tee, 'liberally' interpret it (wink wink lol), or just see where it takes me and who knows what I might end up with. But that's the beauty of sketches don't you think?

It's a dog's life

I created the above layout using this month's sketch at Let's Get Sketchy ..

Sweet .. with Let's Get Sketchy

Feeling a bit lost when scrapping recently I figured I'd head over to one of my favourite sketch challenge sites, Let's Get Sketchy, for inspiration. I wasn't disappointed. Week 2's sketch by Jenessa Franco was exactly the launching point I needed for this layout.

Jenessa's sketch

Something completely different for me I know. Zero mixed media! Tons of patterned paper! A black background! What is the world coming to?!  :O  Seriously though, when creating with the sublime collections Cocoa Vanilla keeps rolling out, how can one not use a ton of patterned paper?

Thanks a million for the inspiration Jenessa! If you're inspired by this sketch, you can find all the details for the challenge HERE. Don't forget Let's Get Sketchy have about three other sketches a month as well so that's loads of inspiration if you need it or simply want to play along.

I'm off to scrap. Hope you're having a fabulous day.

Crazeee .. with Let's Get Sketchy

As I have less and less time to scrap (or so it seems), I'm finding that when I do sit down for a serious scrap session with some girlfriends, it takes a while for the creative wheels to start turning. They're kind of getting a bit creaky and maybe in need of a good service. Anyways when that's the case and I don't know where to start, I turn to sketch challenges; and when I look for a sketch challenge, I always turn to Let's Get Sketchy for inspiration. The sketches are fab and the Design Team always have the sketch covered regardless of your style or subject matter.

I've used the Hello Lovely collection from the fabulously awesome, up and coming Australian designer Zoe at Cocoa Vanilla. This was the first time I've used Cocoa Vanilla products and I have to say, I was impressed. I loved working with the papers, the rest of the collection's elements brought everything together effortlessly, and the quality was outstanding. Add in the price and this is one seriously affordable collection to add to the monthly shopping list! I am now desperately 'hanging' for the 'Life is Beautiful' and 'Tis the Season' collections to come out. In the interim I'll just have to continue working with the tonne of product I have left over from Hello Lovely.

Meanwhile here's one or two (er hmm) close ups ..

(I love Martha Stewart's fringe scissors!)

There's probably a million (okay so maybe not quite that many) sketch challenges and sites out there on the world wide web, but one of the reasons I keep coming back to Let's Get Sketchy is because they have at least four sketches each month. I love that. If I still need inspiration I just pop on over and have another look see. There's always something fresh and interesting going on.

Anyways I could probably ramble all day, but I won't. LOL let's keep this fresh and interesting!  ;)  If you fancy having a go at a few sketches, you can find all the details for this sketch HERE. Have fun!

You & Me .. with Let's Get Sketchy

I had a tonne of fun scrapping with the girls over the weekend. Admittedly productivity went way, way down with all the chatting there was to be done, but that's cool. I love to chat LOL!

You & Me

I am seriously loving working with sketches at the moment. Sometimes I use them to kick start my inspiration; at other times I follow them to a 'T' because they're just too awesome not to. Generally I find the sketches over at Let's Get Sketchy are the ones I follow to a 'T'.  ;)

I just cannot get enough of my Couture Creations and Kaisercraft feather dies feathers ..

Aren't these Crate Papers just divine?

One of the very many awesome things about Let's Get Sketchy is that you don't just get one sketch challenge a month, you get four!!! Awesome huh?! You can find the first sketch HERE. So yeah, if you're a sketch challenge junkie, like I'm turning into, why not follow the Let's Get Sketchy blog and play along with some of their challenges.

I'm off now. Lots to do. Scrapping that is. Wishing you happy days.

So happy .. with Let's Get Sketchy

My layout for the Let's Get Sketchy Week 3 Sketch didn't come together quite as easily as the previous two. I think the, fairly average, photos were throwing me. Nonetheless I really wanted to scrap them so I persevered.

So happy

Let's Get Sketchy Week 3 Sketch

I interpreted the circles in the top left by using up some old, old stash I've had lying around .. circle slide mounts! As I cull and sort my stash I come across bits and pieces from forever ago which I think are kinda cool. So I keep them but leave them on my scrap table so I have to use them. As opposed to putting them back into my stash in some random place to be forgotten about for say, another 16 years or so. I also found some square slide mounts so keep an eye out for those on a future page.

Bearsie .. with Let's Get Sketchy

The sketch for Week 2 at Let's Get Sketchy is so not me. LOL. But I love, love, love the layout I created with the sketch. I am so happy I challenged myself to work with it.

The simplicity of the sketch works beautifully to showcase the fabulous photo GB took of our Bear.

Let's Get Sketchy Week 2 Sketch

This was the first of the Let's Get Sketchy sketches I worked with over the weekend and it set the mood for some really fun creating. If you think you could create something with Let's Get Sketchy Week 2 Sketch then head on over HERE. Enjoy!

Smile .. with Let's Get Sketchy

Last weekend I finished my last project as a Master for Scrapbooking Memories. Having stood down from all my design work earlier in the year to free up time for studying and to focus on my health, that means I no longer have any scrapbooking projects to do for anyone other than myself. I'm free. It feels good. Its liberating.

I celebrated my new found freedom by spending the weekend scrapping with my girlfriend Sandy. I decided to play along with Let's Get Sketchy who put up four sketches a month. I'm not sure I'll get all four done but I did manage three.

Let's Get Sketchy Week 1 Sketch

I very recently bought a lovely stash of Crate Paper papers and had fun challenging myself to do all three layouts with those papers. Three layouts down and I'm still going!

If this sketch appeals to you, as it did to me, you can find all the details for Let's Get Sketchy's Week 1 Sketch HERE. Happy scrapping!

Fabulous .. with Let's Get Sketchy

Heh peeps!

I am so blessed to have the most amazing network of friends and to, once a month or so, catch up with some of the 'locals' for a crop at my place. The day is inevitably filled with lots of chatting and laughter and for some of us, not so much creating!  :P  Having said that surprisingly, for me, I scrapped a layout!

Fabulous

Yet again .. no mixed media!  :O  LOL! Now that I've scrapped three Clean And Simple layouts I feel like a breath of fresh air has swept through my creative soul and that I'm ready to dive back into the world of mixed media.

I've used the sketch from this month's challenge at Let's Get Sketchy. I'm not sure how I 'stumbled' across this challenge blog site but I'm glad I did! I've really enjoyed working with the simplicity of this month's sketch and look forward to seeing what the new sketch is on the first of each month.

I must  confess that one of my 'local' girlfriends whom I get to scrap with once a month is the very talented, and much admired, Ros Madley. I love pretty much everything Ros does and having the opportunity to scrap with her and watch how she does things is wonderful. So yesterday, while I was adding the final touches to my layout I pestered Ros about where she thought I should put my beads, whether she approved of my muslin, whether (when it was finished) she thought it was okay. LOL we had a lot of fun! PS: Thanks for putting up with me Ros!

If you think you'd like to have a play with this sketch and enter the challenge over at Let's Get Sketchy you can find all the details HERE. Happy scrapping!
