Is 'American' a scrapping style??

If so, from what I've read and seen in Creating Keepsakes, I think this layout (which was recently published in Creating Keepsakes) would fit the bill ...

Tranquil Days
published in Creating Keepsakes Volume 16 Issue 4
products used:
WeRMK 72 & Sunny - textured cardstock and designer scrapbook pad; Echo Park Sweet Summertime element stickers; American Crafts Thickers - giggles, foam, cream; Fundamentals Petite alphabet stickers; Stampin' Up! Naturals Ivory cardstock and circle punches; EK Success corner rounder punch; Martha Stewart border punch; Kaiser white acrylic paint; black Zig Writer

I created this layout for a cyber crop back in November last year. But you know how it goes ... it can take quite some months before something which is accepted for publishing actually comes out in a magazine. It was a fabulously fun cyber crop. Most likely because my friend Sandy was here (heh Sandy!) and the challenges were awesome. This particular challenge was to create a layout using three colours from the following colour palette ...

With so many glorious colours on offer you would think it would be easy yes? Not for me LOL! I was pretty much limited by what photos I had printed and/or in albums from years back because my printer was playing up. In the end I couldn't resist the yellow squash, the green broccoli (?) and those gorgeous white pumpkins. I had a lot of fun playing with the WeRMK 72 & Sunny papers too. But when I went to add a tree (oh and might I note I was desperately trying to keep up with super fast scrapper Sandy) I found the Echo Park Sweet Summertime tree, although the shape and size I was looking for, totally the wrong colours. What to do? Ordinarily I would have made my own right from scratch, but remember ... I was trying to keep up with Sandy! In the end it was easy. I punched a whole pile of different sized co-ordinating circles and then stuck them on at varying heights to hide all the 'ungainly' colours. It worked a treat.

Anyways I'm not entirely sure why this layout was accepted for publishing when so many others (which were far better [I think] ... but then don't we all LOL?!) were rejected. I wonder if it was the funky, innovative (?) tree, or the 'American' style. But then is there an 'American' scrapping style? Also it was for the Aussie Reader Gallery. LOL whatever the case it was (as always is) a delight to have another layout published. Wouldn't you agree?  :)

PS: Sandy if you're reading this ... why aren't you studying??? LOL! xx
