Kraft It Up! - October

The challenge this month at Kraft It Up! is to create a monochromatic or minimalist, or vintage/romantic/shabby chic layout. As most of my layouts are usually full to almost overflowing, I decided to really challenge myself and try to create something minimalist. This is what I came up with ...

Outtake
products used:
cardstock - Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake, Basic Black; dies - Quickutz Paper Doll mini alphabet, Tim Holtz Alterations Filmstrip Frames; Purple Pumpkin tickets; Jenni Bowlin Scallop note card; Fontwerks rub ons - round them up (white); Studio Calico Stickers {crafty embellishments}; black velvet Smooch Spritz; pure black Zig Writer

Honestly? I found it really very hard to resist the urge to add more!! I think I'm happy with the result. Well I mean I am but I don't quite know whether I've nailed the minimalist look (so to speak). Minimalist is so foreign to me I'm not sure whether it does need something extra. LOL! As per usual I shared my finished layout with GB and even he was lost for words, disbelieving that that was it! Whatever the case it was a lot of fun to go so far outside my comfort zone, and to have scrapped the photo any other way I think would have been entirely wrong.

You can find the Kraft It Up! challenge blog HERE and their October challenge HERE.

Til next time ... keep smiling.   :)

PS: Special thanks to Dione of Petrait Animal Photography for the photo of our gorgeous Magoo.  xx

  2. Hi Alz, thanks for playing with us at KIU this month, it's great to see you here! I think you've done a brilliant minimalist page - I often have to force myself to take things OFF the page, so I do know what you mean! I love the way you've used the negative strip but left it empty - what a great embelly idea. Hugs xox p.s. I'm not sure what the definition is, but you can get away with surprisingly little on minimalist pages. It's fun to try, don't you think! Less is more, and all that :-)

  3. Fabulous LO Alz.. you've done a fantastic job using the minimalist theme!! I know exactly what you mean about wanting to add more, I went out of my comfort zone and chose this theme and found it quite difficult to hold back. Thanks so much for playing along at KIU :)
