Kraft It Up - October

I quote ..

"October at Kraft It Up is MISTING month, your challenge is to create a layout on Kraft cardstock or Kraft patterned paper showcasing some great techniques/looks with mists."

I was soooooo excited when I read this LOL!!!! I love mists and sprays (and inks and paints and all things messy)!!! I had the perfect photo for what I wanted to do. But when I pulled out my sheet of kraft cardstock and got out my photo I came to a grinding halt. Umm "great techniques/looks"?? Don't we umm just spray the stuff? Everyone can spray mist right? Umm, again, "great techniques/looks"??!! I needed to stop and think about this one.

Okay, so there's the obvious spraying techniques. Then spraying with a mask/stencil/template of some sort. I could use texture paste or gesso. Maybe do an emboss resist? Reverse masking .. you know when you use the template after you've sprayed another piece of cardstock to get the negative image? I could do something with cling film to get the mica of say a glimmer mist into the 'creases'. Or use some paper towel and do some blotting and brayering. Maybe spray on some tissue paper or gauze or other material? Playing with salt and glimmer mists is always fun. What to do? What to do? LOL!!! This is what I did ..

Falling
products used:
cardstock - kraft
embellishments - Prima flowers, Pink Paislee Artisan Tape, MM staples, Washi Tape
alphas - AC Wonder (black, foam)
stamps - Cocoa Daisy
tools - MFT Die-namics die, TCW templates
messy stuff - SC Mister Huey's Color Mists (Estate Green, Calico White), webbing spray,
StazOn ink pads (Olive Green, Jet Black)

In the end I went with some pretty simple spraying methods using some TCW templates, I also used an eye dropper to make some 'splats' (a very technical term!) and made my own kraft patterned paper with more of the 'splats' technique (LOL) to die-cut the hexagons. The photo and 'feel' of the LO suited something simple so I didn't want to overdo the techniques. It feels very minimalistic for me but I love it. Thanks for the inspiration Kraft It Up!

That's it for me today. I'd love to say I'm off to do some more scrapping but instead I'm going shopping for a water tank, wallpaper and paint, and outdoor furniture. Oh what fun!! Whatever you have planned for the day, I hope it's a good one.   :)

  2. Wow, Alz. You did a great job with this. Love all the different mediums yet the page does look kind of minimalist, as you say. It's really lovely. Hope you got all your shopping and organising done :) I ran a Craft Class today and we made these gorgeous Christmas decorations. I put them on my blog if you want to see. The rest of the week is all work, work, work! Lol! xx
